| The project featured flood defence measures and much consultation with the Environment Agency was undertaken in flood planning to ensure that the positioning of the building did not compromise the surrounding area.
The scheme was to extend the changing facilities, to upgrade the swimming pool and to construct a new building for aerobics, fitness and weight-training facilities.
The primary fitness area benefited from a barrel-vaulted ceiling and was accessed from reception via a sweeping staircase that was enhanced by a polished plaster wall. The clean and crisp interior was accentuated by a combination of architectural lighting and an electronic coloured lighting system that could be operated sequentially.”**
