The ‘L’ shaped building consisted of a steel frame to house the ground floor restaurant and bar with a timber frame above.

Construction was complicated by the need to avoid a 13m deep drain running through the site with the piled foundations and the need to install a tunnel connecting the hotel to the adjacent underground car park.
