Director Aran Brooks is running the Ely New Year's Eve 10k run this year in an attempt to raise money for Cerebral Palsy Care (Kent).
When asked the question why he is intending to don running shoes on new year’s eve morning when most people will be slobbing out in slippers, he replied:
“It's not very often that I run without a good reason, such as working off the pies or someone chasing me, but my wife and I have friends with a son attending the CPC learning centre at Cliffe Woods and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to raise money for this very worthy local charity.”
Cerebral Palsy Care is a registered charity based in Rochester and is the only organisation in Kent providing free Conductive Education for children under five who suffer from Cerebral Palsy or similar motor disorders. It receives no government funding and relies totally on fundraising to provide the services that it does. You can read more about them at http://www.cpcare4u.co.uk/.
Aran will be in good company on the day, as also running with him will be Martin Godden (Shepherd Neame), Simon Bottomley (Balsham (Buildings) Ltd) and Dean Elvidge (Jenner Contractors Ltd).
If you’d like to sponsor Aran, log on to http://www.justgiving.com/aranbrooks. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Also, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost.
Aran concludes:
“Your sponsorship (no matter the amount) and your words of encouragement would be very much appreciated. And yes, I do hope to finish the race in 2007!”
