With their strategic partners Procore, MKAP worked with Cisco’s Global Procurement Strategy Department and leading lawyers Clifford Chance to update Cisco’s suite of construction contracts for Europe and the Emerging Markets. Again with Procore, MKAP were involved in the initial role-out of Cisco’s contracts back in 2003.
In late 2007, MKAP Director Aran Brooks highlighted the need to update Cisco’s UK contracts to reflect the 2005 JCT forms in the UK and as the magnitude of Cisco’s projects had increased, introduced a suite of contracts for major projects.
The contract strategy involved a core of seven key countries where the contract is based on an accepted local form such as the JCT in the UK or the Norm AFNOR in France with a schedule of Cisco amendments to each. The seven key countries are UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Outside these countries the contracts are based on the FIDIC form again with a schedule of Cisco amendments. Cisco started using the new contracts in May 2008.
